MINUTES TSCA BREAKFAST
MEETING JUNE 2, 2000 The Texas Shrine Clown Association held its annual breakfast
and business meeting at the University Of Texas Faculty Center at 25th and Guadalupe
Street in Austin Texas. The meeting was called to order by President Butch Davis
at 7:45 AM on June 2, 2000. Invocation was given by Chaplain Bill Sandell. The Pledge of allegiance was lead by 1st vice
president Bennie Bowers. President Davis called the meeting to break for
breakfast and fellowship. Following
breakfast, President Butch Davis called the meeting back to order. All officers and their ladies were
introduced. Special recognition was extended to the Most Worshipful
Grand Master of Texas W. Vernon Burke and his lady Fay who were in
attendance. President Butch
Davis then recognized the Al Amin Divan and their Ladies for their support throughout
the year. President Butch
Davis then called all the past presidents of the association up front and
introduced each of them. Those in
attendance were. 1985-86-Dale Kell-Suez 1987-88-James Blackburn-El mina 1989-90-Joe Cole-Ben Hur 1993-94-Mike Cofffey Alzafar 1994-95-Bill Arrendale-Ben Hur 1996-97- Barney Johnson-Suez 1997-98-Pete Peters-Sharon 1998-99- Dennis Greenawald-Hella Parker Helms Secretary/Treasure Pro-Tem conducted roll
call of all TSCA units. Each unit
was asked to introduce their Divan members and unit officers present. Twelve TSCA units out of nineteen were
represented. The Divan members were
excused to attend other competitions. Bill Sandell was asked to give a Black Camel report of
all deceased members since our March meeting. The following names were read. Buddy Armstrong El Mina
Beaumont, J. Tom Shelton Past TSCA President 1978-79, Tom Cobb, Bobby
Monger, Jack Elston, and Jack Garder all of Moslah. Jim Baugh of Suez Abilene and Sam Smith of Suez San
Angelo. Chaplin Bill Sandelll
offered a prayer in commemoration of our deceased brethren. President Butch Davis called for the reading of the
mid-winter minutes. A motion was
made and seconded to waive the reading of the minutes. The motion passed by unanimous vote. President Butch Davis called for treasurer report by
Parker Helms Secretary / Treasurer Pro-Tem. Brother Helms went over the expenses and income for the
year. Upon completion of his report
he provided and audited copy of the finance report to the incoming Secretary
/ Treasurer Bob Mantle along with a check in the amount of $2337.61. A motion was made by Dennis Greenawald to make Parker
Helms Secretary / Treasurer of record.
The motion was
seconded by Joe Cole and the motion passed by unanimous vote.

President Butch Davis called for the reading of the mid-winter minutes. A motion was made and seconded
To waive the reading of the minutes. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
President Butch Davis called for the treasurer report by Parker Helms Secretary/Treasurer Pro-Tem. Brother
Helms went over the expenses and income for the year. Upon completion of his report he provided an audited
copy of the finance report to the incoming Secretary/Treasurer Bob Mantle along with a check in the amount
Of $2337.61. A motion was made and seconded to except the treasurer report as submitted. The motion
passed by unanimous vote.
A motion was made Dennis Greenawald to make Parker Helms Secretary/Treasurer of record. The motion
was seconded by Joe Cole and the motion passed by unanimous vote.
President Butch Davis mentioned that the proposed by-law changes under Article IV Officers Section 2D which
were submitted to the T.S.A. Purpose and Policy Committee have been approved. These by-law changes read
as follows. All members for the office in the association must have five (5) years of membership in a local
TSCA clown unit. All candidates for the office of 2nd Vice President must be a past unit President and shall submit
To the Association Secretary a resume of his past Shrine history and any other pertinent information along
with a letter of recommendation and certification from his Temple Potentate. The Association Secretary must
receive the resume and accompanying letter in sufficient time for notification of all unit heads of the proposed
candidate. All candidates not submitting such information at least thirty (30) days prior to any such mid-winter
meeting will be disqualified as to the office of 2nd Vice President for that year.
Joe Cole made a motion that the Texas Shrine Clown Association make a donation to the Sneaker Fund. The motion was seconded by Jim Blackburn. Discussion was to make a $100.00 donation. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
The Moslah Clown unit made a donation of $5100 to the sneaker fund. The check was presented to 1st Vice President Joe Cole of the International Shrine Clown Association in memory of their deceased members.
Joe Cole made a motion we look into upgrading our web-site and place the Association by-laws on the site for all
members to read. Dennis Greenawald agreed to handle the project. The motion was seconded by Mike Coffey
and the motion passed by unanimous vote.
President Butch Davis thanked everyone for making his year very successful. Butch gave a special thanks to
Parker Helms and his Lady Ellen for stepping in and helping out. Butch presented Brother Helms a plaque showing his appreciation.
President Butch Davis invited 1999 Past Potentate Jimmy Posey King of Moslah Temple to the podium to
Install the officers for the ensuing year. The following officers were installed.

Passing of the gavel was given to President H. Leighton Roddy Jr.
New Moslah clown Bob Homey Shelton (J.Toms son) made the presentation of the fez to President
Leighton Roddy. The fez that was presented to President Leighton Roddy was the Presidents
Fez which was worn by Past President J. Tom Happy Hobo Shelton in 1978-79. The wording on the fez
Says Texas State Clown Association. This was the name of the association in the seventies. President
Leighton Roddy is wearing this fez in remembrance of the good brother, friend and fellow clown.
President Leighton Roddy made the Fez presentation to the Secretary/Treasurer Bob Mantle and Chaplain
George White.
President Leighton Roddy made his acceptance speech thanking all units for their support and especially
the Moslah Clowns for their work and support to reach this position, Past Potentate Posey for the installation
of the new TSCA officers, and his lady Carolyn Crash King.
President Leighton Roddy then told how in 1984 he received his clown name TW from this gracious lady.
President Leighton Roddy thanked the Al Amin Shrine Clown Unit for their support as well as Past President
Butch Davis and his lady Karen.
A plaque was presented to Past President Butch Davis showing the Association appreciation.
This TSCA breakfast. A special thanks was given to Gordon Decker and his lady Mary Ann for the head table
Hand made decorations and the registration process.
Chaplain George White gave the benediction.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned in peace and harmony.
